Internships

Work across environmental sustainability and bio-based materials.

My internships have let me explore two areas I am interested in outside school: environmental sustainability and biology. The work has involved research, analysing information & using it to answer specific questions for each organisation.

Waatavaran

Environmental Communication & Social Media Research

Waatavaran is a Mumbai-based environmental organisation working on air quality, sustainable transport, biodiversity, and forest conservation.

During my internship, I worked with another student to understand how Waatavaran could communicate its environmental work more effectively. We surveyed 30 people, spoke with the organisation's team, and reviewed its existing social media content.

While respondents valued Waatavaran's work, 75% felt its content could be more visually engaging. Based on our findings, we recommended short-form videos, interactive content, collaborations, and a more consistent visual identity.

This experience became particularly useful when I started working on GlowBack. I realised that simply telling people how much waste their beauty routines generate wasn't enough. I needed to find ways to make that information understandable, relevant, and something people could act on.

BacAlt

Market Research Project · Ongoing

My research work initially focused on the environmental impact of beauty packaging. But it also made me curious about something less visible: the environmental impact of the ingredients inside those products.

At BacAlt Biosciences, I've been researching microplastics and synthetic polymers used in cosmetics, examining why they're used, their potential environmental and health effects, and how regulations are changing.

I've also been studying bacterial nanocellulose and γ-PGA as possible alternatives to certain synthetic polymers, comparing their performance, safety, biodegradability, formulation compatibility, and commercial viability.
