GlowBack

A beauty and sustainability project connecting everyday personal-care choices with native tree restoration.

I use skincare and personal-care products every day, but I had never really thought about what happened to all the packaging afterwards, or about the environmental cost behind the products themselves.

GlowBack started as a way for me to look more closely at that side of beauty and share what I was learning. I also wanted the project to lead to something tangible, which is why I partnered with 14Trees Foundation to support native tree restoration in India.

Why I Started It

Beauty routines create a lot that we rarely see once a product is finished.

Packaging, ingredients, manufacturing and disposal all have an environmental footprint, but it can be difficult to understand what that means in everyday terms.

Through GlowBack, I research topics around skincare, beauty and sustainability and turn them into simple, accessible content about the choices we make and the waste those choices can create.

From Awareness to Action

I did not want GlowBack to stop at sharing information.

I partnered with 14Trees Foundation, an organisation working on ecological restoration in India, so that the project could also support native tree planting and restoration.

So far, GlowBack has helped support the planting of 201 native trees through these restoration projects.

Looking more closely at where ingredients come from and their environmental impact.

Thinking about how much we buy, how often we replace products and what we actually use.

Better choices

Simple ways to reduce waste without treating sustainability as an all-or-nothing decision.
