GlowGuide

A practical guide for burn and acid attack survivors navigating everyday life after treatment.

While working with acid attack survivors through Chhanv Foundation, I started hearing questions I had not expected. Which skincare products are safe on grafted skin? Can I wear makeup again? Which fabrics are less irritating? How should I care for my hair, nails or skin as it heals?

Those conversations became the starting point for GlowGuide, a 60-page guide built around the everyday questions that can come up after hospital treatment.

Why I Made It

A lot of the questions I heard were about what came next.

Medical treatment covers the most urgent parts of recovery, but survivors still have to make everyday choices about skincare, clothing, hygiene, cosmetics, nutrition and appearance.

Clear answers were often difficult to find in one place. I wanted to create something practical that survivors could return to when they needed it.

Building GlowGuide

I spoke with eight burn and acid attack survivors about their experiences and the questions they had after treatment. I also spoke with doctors and other specialists, researched the biology of burned and grafted skin, and worked with Chhanv Foundation to understand what information would actually be useful.

I brought this together into a 60-page guide, combining medical guidance with questions and experiences that came directly from survivors.

The same questions around personal-care products are also part of my independent sustainability research.

In Estimation of Plastic Use from Personal Skincare Routines, I studied the amount of plastic generated by everyday personal-care routines and their related packaging carbon footprint.
